Creating a Bedroom for ALL the Kids

Hey friends! I always like to have total transparency! This blog post includes an affiliate link and we collaborated with Beddy’s Beds on this room makeover. My opinions are always my own and I would never share anything with you guys that I don’t truly love. Thank you for your support, friends!

I’ll be the first to say that we made a decision that most might find unconventional (big, surprise, right?). We decided to put all of the kids (well, except Baby Margaret) into one ole bedroom together. And it’s been the best decision. I’m constantly trying to find the best uses for the spaces in our home and when it came down to it, I realized our kids spend very little time actually IN their bedrooms. They sleep in there. That’s it.

And not only that, most of the time they were all jumbled up on pallets in the floor for big sibling sleepovers. As I was checking out triple bunk beds for a follower request for my Budget Shopping on IG, I thought, “Man, these are cool. Maybe I should get these for the boys’ room.” And after that I thought, “Eleanor would just end up sleeping on the third bunk.” And that led to, “Benjamin, is it crazy to just put all the kids in one room to sleep in?”

We bought this triple bunkbed from Wayfair for our three youngest. Our oldest has an antique iron bed.

We talked about it and realized it didn’t seem all that crazy at all. They could use the bathroom to change clothes. There are plenty of spaces around the house and property to go hang out if they need some quiet time. It actually made a lot of sense for our family and so we went for it.

Next came the fun part. Figuring out how to make this a bedroom that would not be too girly or boyish. And how to appeal to a four year old up to a twelve year old. I decided Camp Grier (Grier is our last name) would be our theme. I collaborated with Beddy’s Beds and chose their Olive You and couldn’t have been happier with this gorgeous green color. I felt like I could add some touches to make it suitable for both the boys and the girls. The bedding is all in one and the kids just have to zip them up to make their bed! It’s like a super cute and fancy sleeping bag for your bed! It also has this soft minkee fabric that is cozy for the kids. I can’t gush enough about how amazing they are! You can grab some for yourself here and use coupon code FRONTPORCH20 to get 20% off your order!

I added some pink pillowcases for the girl’s beds to make their space a little girlier and everyone got a new pillow or stuffed animal to go along with our wilderness camp theme. Stuffed animals and Eleanor’s pillows (bottom bunk) are all from Target.

I ordered this cactus botanical print from Amazon for less than $10. I thought it was a nice touch for Pressley’s part of the room. The gold lamp is a Target find ($30!).

Pressley’s decorative pillow is from Hobby Lobby.

Camp Grier has been going strong for a month now. The kids love being in one room, their rooms look cleaner (thanks to Beddy’s Beds!), and Margaret (our ten month old) was able to graduate from our room and have her own nursery upstairs.

The triple bunk beds have also been a huge hit with the kiddos and are actually really reasonably priced. They come in four different colors! You can check them out here!

Thanks for stopping by, friends! Do you have Beddy’s Beds for your kids? Don’t they make life SO much easier?!

Until next time! From my porch to yours!

XO

  1. Camp Grier turned out amazing!!! We are going to have 3 Story bunks when the time comes. Lol we don’t even have three kids yet but the fact that we have such tall ceilings I am taking full advantage of using that space! We will also be getting Beddies once we are out of this crib stage

    • Brittany, you will love it! And the kids will too! I wish they’d been around when I was a kid! 🙂
