FASTer Way to Fat Loss: Low Carb Day

This week is all about my journey with FASTer Way to Fat Loss over the last year. Today, I want to chat a bit about what my low carb day looks like. I hope it can help my current clients and anyone that’s contemplating if FASTer Way to Fat Loss might be a good fit for you too. We eat low carb two days a week. Each person has different macro goals that we discuss and learn through the program and if macro talk makes your head spin, I promise it makes sense as we go through the program together (that’s what I’m here for anyway!). If you are familiar with keto, the low carb days will make sense, except we don’t each cheese. My goal is to keep my carbs under 50g net carbs and then I have certain protein and fat goals to hit.

Intermittent Fasting is also a huge part of FASTer Way to Fat Loss. I personally prefer my eating window to be 11am-7pm, but people adjust that to work for their schedule. I wake up around 5:30-6am most mornings and yes, I have my coffee!! To not break my fast, I have to keep the calories of my coffee under 50 and it also has to be dairy free. That’s where Nutpods comes in. I buy these from a local grocery store called Publix, but I’ve also found it at Whole Foods and you can order it from Amazon.

It may take a little getting used to, but Nutpods is my favorite non-dairy, all natural coffee creamer.

People prefer to break their fasts different ways. I tried a few different things until I found what worked best for me. I like to eat salami (high in fat), carrots, bell peppers, hummus, and some type of nuts for lunch. Some people like to break their fast with a more breakfast-like meal with eggs, etc. There’s no right or wrong…just what works best for you and what makes you feel your best.

This is my normal go-to lunch on most low carb days.

I will normally have a snack of a protein bar and/or RX vanilla almond butter. And I’m going to be honest here, these also totally help my sweet tooth! I find the RX protein bars/vanilla butter at Target, Walmart, and Amazon. Perfect Bars can be found at most grocery stores and Target and Walmart, etc. The chocolate peanut butter is like a healthy Reese’s cup! I also like to snack on beef jerky to get my protein in.

I don’t normally eat ALL of these in one day, but they are some of my go-to snacks (and they help satisfy that sweet tooth!)

Dinner on a low carb day can be breakfast for dinner with eggs, bacon, sausage. Another idea might be a hearty chef salad with Tessamae salad dressing (my favorite clean non-dairy salad dressing…my favorite is the ranch). You can buy Tessamae’s at Whole Foods and some grocery stores (I have found it at Ingles). It will be with the dressings that are refrigerated, normally in the produce section. The key is you want to keep your carbs low and increase foods that are high in fat (like bacon).

For those that sign up for FASTer Way to Fat Loss, a meal plan is included and it also provides a useful guide to get some meal ideas. Low carb days are my favorite, but it’s nice to switch up the way I eat for regular macro days (which I’ll be blogging about this week, as well!).
