Our Tennessee Vacation (Plus Our Homeschooling Tips!)

Benjamin loves to take a January vacation. This really stems from years of working in retail and being unable to take much time off in November and December. Disney World is a favorite of ours (okay, mine) to visit in January because the temperatures are nice in Florida then and the lines aren’t very crazy. But last year we went to Tennessee and rented a cabin and the kids loved it and we found it a pretty relaxing vacation. I loved it because there are lots of antiques stores in the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area. The downside is there’s no room to bring anything big home, lol!

We like to use Christmas money to help fund our January trip. This year the kids got some gifts, but we reminded them that most of their present was coming with our January vacation. We also used some money that grandparents had gifted us for Christmas. We booked our cabin with Cabins USA and stayed in their Suite Retreat. It was a three story cabin with a bedroom upstairs (with master bath) and a pool table room upstairs. The middle floor was another bedroom, bathroom, living room, kitchen, and dining area. And the downstairs had two bedrooms and bathrooms, a sitting area with tv, an air hockey table (that didn’t work), and a washer/dryer. There was a jacuzzi out on the porch.
